Student Of The Week - Week 1

Congratulations to Lindsey who was Week one's Student of the Week.
He was a good Y4 role model as he quickly settled down to work and wasn't distracted by others still learning the routines.
The Student of the Week gets to sit on the class couch, as well as 2 pins for their pin chart and 2 lollies. A super start Lindsey.

Not just one, but two!

Can you spot what is missing?

The amazing things you find in books!

Brooklyn was so impressed by a book in our class library that he decided to make a model exactly like the one in the book! Fantastic work Brooklyn!

Statistics can be fun!

We watched this youtube clip and then had a go as a class. We decided to have groups of three because our table groups were too big. We talked about how to work well together before we started. It is amazing how easily the class can be tidied up in 30 seconds.
As groups we had to co-operate and discuss who was doing what. We found out that we are good at collaborating (working together for a joint task).

How can we find out lots of information at once - Mix and Mingle

We wanted to find out lots of information about each other so we used a "Mix and Mingle" tool for a people hunt. Each person had to ask others questions about what they did in the holidays. We found out Nicole went to Australia and Joe went to America. TJ went fishing and he caught a stingray. It was a fun way to learn everybodys names.

The class turtles have new names.

video
Each year the class gets to vote on new names for the class turtles. This year the category was TV characters. The winning names were "News baby" and "News Lady" - interesting aren't they?

This song was written as the All Black supporters song for the 1999 World Cup. It is performed by Tim Finn, a famous NZ musician. There are lots of other famous NZ faces.
Can you name any of them? Send us a "comment".

CAN YOU HEAR US?

(Neil Finn)

We're right where we belong
Where mountains meet the ocean
Beneath the Southern Cross
A symbol of our devotion

Can you hear us
We'll never let go
Can you hear us
And carry our hopes
Can you hear us
We'll never let go

The fire is coming back
There's magic in your touch
Silver fern on black
Somehow it means so much
The time is running down
The shadows getting longer
But don't you hang your head
‘Cos brother it's not over

[Chorus]

And the final moment in your hands
You feel the power from the stands
And it's like thunder coming to fill the silence
[Chorus]
Can you hear us...Aotearoa.....hear us....Aotearoa
